Natalie Dietrich Jones鈥� professional experience has been in the field of development in Jamaica and other Caribbean spaces. Outside of academia, she has worked in the local and international public sector. Most recently, she was employed with the Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator for Barbados and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States, where she assisted with the development of a framework for cooperation between the United Nations System and the Caribbean. Natalie Dietrich Jones enjoys teaching and is passionate about student development. Her research interests include Migration and Border studies, Qualitative research, and Critical Realist methodology. Prior to joining SALISES Natalie taught a number of courses in International Relations and Political Science within the Department of Government at UWI, Mona.

Academic Profile

Natalie Dietrich Jones has a background in International Relations, having received her first degree in International Relations, Politics and Spanish from the University of the West Indies (UWI, Mona, Jamaica) in 2003. In 2005, she was awarded a shared Cambridge-Commonwealth Trust Scholarship to read a taught Masters at the University of Cambridge in Development Studies. Between 2009 and 2014 Natalie undertook doctoral research at the University of Manchester, in the Institute for Development Policy and Management, on the experience of undocumented CARICOM migrants residing in Barbados. She has presented her work at academic conferences in Jamaica, the UK and Norway on issues related to geographies of the border, managed migration, and intra-regional migration within the CARICOM context.
