UWI Vice-Chancellor's Forum on the Cuban Crisis

You’re invited to join a Vice-Chancellor’s Forum themed “Perspectives on the Current Cuban Crises: Issues, Impact, and Imperatives.â€

Hosted by the Office of the Vice-Chancellor in collaboration with the Office of the Board for Undergraduate Studies, the Latin Ãå±±½ûµØn-Caribbean Centre (LACC), and SALISES, this timely forum will examine the ongoing crisis in Cuba, offering critical insights into government responses, regional implications, and opportunities for strengthened Caribbean solidarity and action.

The session will be led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, with opening contributions from Her Excellency Tania López Larroque, Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica, alongside an expert panel including Professor Emerita Jessica Byron-Reid, Professor Bert Hoffmann, Professor Andy Knight, Dr. Miriam Nicado, and Dr. Indira Rampersad.

The discussion will be moderated by Professor Canute S. Thompson, with Professor Don D. Marshall, Director of SALISES, and chaired live by Ambassador Gillian Bristol, Director of LACC and Strategic Coordinator for The UWI Multilingual Culture Programme.
